Straight off the train and on to the metro, which was clean, fast, efficient (just like London's) and jam packed. Out the other end and again we are greeted by rude, aggresive cabbies refusing to take us. In such instances, we have learnt to befriend someone aged between 20 to 30, (as this age group generally speaks English), they will go to great lengths to help. Result.

The guide books tell you that the Bund is a must see and the place to stay. So we did. It looks like the Thames, which is not all bad if you can get away from the "HELLO KITE" man and the man selling post cards ("20 for one pack, Ok 15, OK 10, Ok 10 for 2, 2 for 5" literally that fast). There are also the obligatory little old ladies begging, and once again T attracted one, who started wailing when we ignored her. Quite embarrassing really.

Shanghai is like Hong Kong, but even more expensive. Not quite as mad and the people aren't quite as rich, and their are loads of skyscrapers. You can buy just as many a bad fake Rolex (best price was 3 Rolex and 3 Mont Blanc pens for 100RMB all for just sitting there saying "No I don't want any of that horrible shit". But if you have been to HK, don't bother.

We headed to the nearest Irish Pub.

Big Love
