The Czech Republic is known for their artistic glass works. I really wanted something made here but none of it appealed to me.  John's mom and my Aunt Ida would have loved it.  After shopping
in countless "Bohemian" glass stores, we decided to skip this souvenir idea.  So it was on to see the Municipal House – the best example of an art nouveau building in Prague.  On the spur of the moment we decided to attend an evening concert there in the Smetana Hall.  But before that, and before more rain, we wanted to investigate the old Jewish cemetery. You know me and cemeteries.  I was really looking forward to poking around here but unfortunately in celebration of Yom Kippur, the cemetery and synagogue were closed.  A few quick pics through the locked gate will have to do.  By now it was raining again but we were determined see Wenceslas Square and the sight of the 1968 Prague Spring.  Wenceslas’ statue is impressive.  A Christmas Carol in honor of Good King Wenceslas but no religion. Bill Maher would like it here.  The acoustics in the Smetana Hall within the Municipal Theater were amazing.  The chamber orchestra “Prague Music” gave an hour performance.  A CD by lead violinist Ondrej Skopovy will be our only souvenir of Prague.  WAIT A SECOND;  I haven’t had any of this world famous Czech beer.  OK, let’s try 'em all!  Off to the Prague Beer Museum which is really a bar that has about 30 different beers on tap. I ordered a tasting of 5 different beers – totally illegal in Utah and I loved being scandalous!  I liked them all except the Svijany Weizen -- “brewed in the English style” with citrus flavors.  No, not citrus - that was definitely bubble gum flavor. Yuck. With no definite plans for dinner, we ended up at another Italian restaurant (Aldente).  I’m good on pasta for a while.  This restaurant happened to be near the funky Franz Kafka statue John wanted to see. Lots of walking today.  Surely I lost 10 pounds.   I’m tired. Goodnight.
