Weather: Start Sunny and 24C Hot spot 32C Now 30.5C Still hot but the humidity is way down.
After traveling down the Mississippi on the Minnesota side for two days I decided to cross over to the  Wisconsin side and am glad I did! Immediately the roads were up and down hills and curves thatt put a smile on my face. The road was sided by trees and tiny mountains the were also covered in tress. It was a welcome change from yesterdays flat landscape. Further down the land had been cleared and and large farms were plenty. I did not see any cows until almost the end of the day when I saw a large dairy farm with several barns full of cows. On the Wisconsin car license plate it says 'The Dairy State' .
The road I traveled on was a 55l mph 2 laner.  Slowing down occasionally to pass through small towns averaging 700 people. The Mississippi for the most part was in sight and if not then I could always see the wetlands next to it. I saw a small pond with that green weedy stuff on top of the water and thought 'where's my net! there's frogs in that pool' Guess I'll never grow up. Anyway I kept checking every pond....
Stopped at one Dam and Lock over the river and was fortunate to see a ship pushing a huge load through the lock. I saw a couple of these vessels and as I said they were huge.
Well when I was getting hot about 2:30 pm I saw a sign pointing the was to 'The Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe so I went to check it out. to get to the Shrines was a very pleasant walk up the 'mountain' side. The first Shrine was The Shrine of the Votive Candle. When you opened the doors to the shrine there was a pyramid of large Votive candles all coloured blue. Surrounding the candles were magnificent stained glass windows showing the various incarnations of Mary.
Further on up the mountain was the actual shrine to Our Lady.  The shrine is a modern building with stunning statues, paintings and stained glass windows. I arrived just in time for the afternoon
devotions which drew me in with saying the of Rosary and to my surprise included the Eucharistic adoration. I have included samples pictures I took at of both Shrines.
Onwards tomorrow and we'll see what adventures are to come!
