started off this morning and the outside temperature according to my bikes computer was 3c. I went into the shadows and the temp went down to 1c!!! The temperature rose to 15c after traveling 40k. The temp when I got to he north rim was an nice 21c but when I came down from the Rim and into the valley (desert) the temp shot up to 32c. All this within a distance of 300K to the Rim and 130K back. Tomorrow will be a hot one. Will be drinking lots of fluids :(

As I said, the ride down to the rim started off as a cold one. The entrance to the Grand Canyon North Rim is through the Kaibab National Forest and it is if someone cut the forest off to create the Grand Canyon. You are in the forest parking your bike and walk to the edge of the parking lot and there is the Grand Canyon. It is breathtaking. The North Rim is not as spectacular as the South nor is it so commercialized. The North Rim is almost taken over by the Grand Canyon Lodge and it's cabins, leaving only a trail along the canyons rim for the tourists.

Unlike the South Rim, there were several Viewing Points that you had to walk across a narrow bridge with a dropoff either side. My vertigo was almost stopping my heart. I was not the only one as I heard several people saying 'you go, I'm staying here'. In addition to the Rim in front of the Lodge, there were a couple of roads that led to additional viewing points. To get there you had to drive a windy, road up and down and you can guess how much I liked that!! Going up, almost at the end I came behind a white passenger van going 5mph around a hairpin corner - slowed me right down darn...The occupants got out and the were elderly people on vacation from India. No wonder they were going slow!!!

Well, got to go finish my laundry and plan my day tomorrow. I am going to Williams Arizona but I don't know the route I'll take. Maybe you'll get photo's tomorrow, maybe not (highway travel).

C-ya!
