I had a day off yesterday so I headed down to the Control Gates to check out some fishing spots. The Control Gates are about 45 mins. walk from where I am and they connect Lake Te Anau with the Waiua River which then runs into Lake Manapouri. I was unsuccessful when it came to fishing, but I did run into a little outdoor aviary along the way to the gates.
Fishing and reading may be what I do to kill time in Te Anau. Now that I have a library card, this will be much easier. I've already reread Howard Zinn's Declarations of Independence, which is always a great read. I just finished a book by David Irving on Rudolf Hess. I really didn't like that book or its author. Last night I just started a book on Children in Belsen. I'll probably be done by tomorrow and the Te Anau library just isn't that big. I guess I'll have to expand into *gasp* FICTION! It's not that big of a deal, but I prefer non fiction. I don't know how many updates I'll really be putting up anymore just because things are slowing down a lot. You can always subscribe to know when I update though.
