Two updates in two days. This is unheard of! Actually I've just done a lot in the past two days between Doubtful and Milford. Today I woke up kind of groggy and wondering if I wanted to even get up to go ot Milford. Would they reschedule if I just didn't show up? eh, too much money to gamble. So I woke up and made a crappy lunch so I didn't have to buy their $20 "picnic" lunch. I also had a feeling that someone had been in my room and I realized that my door was unlocked. Just a strange feeling, but more on that later.

The bus ride to Milford was about two hours long, but it really wasn't that bad. The driver's recycled and still humorless commentary was quite unwelcome. I would've put my headphones on if I hadn't left them on all night, leaving the battery low. I knew I'd need to conserve my music time when I was in need. So I went along and got out at every stop doing the tourist thing. Everything was a bit more difficult because of the rain, but I welcomed the rain. Milford Sound has hundreds of waterfalls when it's raining and all but a few disappear when it dries up. We saw some interesting things on the way (I'll post pictures when I get a chance).

Once we made it into Milford Sound, I was already damp and tired. My planned nap was disrupted by the many stops, the cold, the rain, and the screaming children located just behind me in the tour bus. The cruise was about two and a half hours if I recall correctly. We saw another pod of dolphins and also a few seals. Taking pictures and video was very difficult because of the constant rain. Everything was either gray or ten different shades of green. I don't know how well the pictures are going to look as a result. By the time the cruise was over, I was ready for a nap. The well conserved battery life on my iRiver held me over for the ride back and into the internet cafe to take my pictures off of my memory cards.

I returned to The Nunnery and headed over to the kitchen in hopes of a decent meal. I haven't talked about my meals lately, but they're much improved...because I'm not making them. Last night, I had steak for US$2. Two eggs, some potatoes, and fries accompanied that piece of steak. All was good. hehe. Staff meals are decent so I'll probably stick to those from now on. Tonight I received a similar meal, but not steak. Another culture shock here...NO A1 STEAK SAUCE!!$@#%$@# That's it, I'm leaving. I guess it's not that big of a deal and they did have mushrooms on the steak. I'll let it slip this trip. Tonight's meal wasn't the point. The two chefs had a grin on their face when I came in. Of course my customary greeting came, "Hey Yank!" It turns out that I forgot to lock my door last night and that feeling this morning was dead on. Someone HAD been in my room. The two chefs from THV discovered that when I'm asleep, there is no waking me. Luckily they're technologically disadvantaged or my video from Doubtful Sound would've included more footage than I would've liked.

A little more on the music that saved me from the kids in the back of the bus. I've been listening to a lot of blindside, Jump, Little Children, some nails, lostprophets, dredg, and I've been trying to listen to some of the stuff I bought before I left (Screaming Trees, The Doors). I'm also excited to see that A Perfect Circle is putting eMOTIVe out on November 2nd. This coincides with the Presidential election. I've been unable to preview "Counting Bodies Like Sheep to the Rhythm of the War Drums" and the cover of "Imagine", but I'm sure APC did a nice job. The cover of eMOTIVe is also interesting. Everything can be found at www.aperfectcircle.com Check it out if you're in to rockin about peace and against Bush.

Well, tomorrow I'll get my job sorted out and hopefully start on Monday. I might be heading down to Invercargill tomorrow also. Invercargill has not received one compliment from anyone I've met or anything I've read, but I'll be heading down with a local so it should be a bit better than just wandering around the place by myself. Besides uploading the pictures I don't know that I'll be updating much more in the near future because I don't have anything big planned. Not that that can't change. Until next time! adios
