Once the Romans took over, they added a theater and a stadium, and when we were at the stadium, we had to do something to commemorate the event. We didn't want to hold a foot race (been there, done that). Fortunately, Megan had a frisbee, so we had a recreational discus game
We also went and saw an incredible bridge that crossed the Aegean sea (sorry, I don't have the name with me). When we visited the visitor's center, we watched a video on the construction of the bridge. I honestly have no idea who figured out how to build this thing, but they are a genius. The bridge cost $1 billion, and then they had a video of the opening fireworks show, which I am sure tacked on another million dollars (at that point, what's another million?).
Our Greek driver was mad at the bridge because it is very expensive to cross ($45 US Dollars for a semi to cross). He said that it was outrageous that the French come into Greek land, build a bridge and make money off the Greeks... What the heck did you think they were going to do when they were building the blasted thing? I have to laugh at the rivalry between the countries that sit shoulder to shoulder.
