The drive down highway 1 on the coast is very pretty.   A few places can be pretty scary because you are so high  up on the edges of cliffs. Most of the towns can be missed if you blink.  There are plenty of vista points to stop and admire the view.  Also some beaches to hang out on.

We decided to take this route to see if there were any places we would want to come back and stay at.  There were not.  So luckily this 3 hour detour saved us a whole boring weekend in one of the towns.

So we drive a couple hours out of our way to get to this coastal town I have heard so much about.  Fort Bragg is not very impressive.  Most of the town if away from the coast and kind of industrial looking.  There was nothing really special about it.  We had a pretty basic lunch at TWs.

We continued on down highway 1 and passed through Pt Arena.  This town was pretty small.  Only a few buildings.  Think there was a gift shop and a couple bed and breakfasts.

Jenner is one town I had thought of booking a trip to.  I am so glad now I hadn't.  Besides the few very pretty bed and breakfasts with wonderful views, there was really nothing else but a gift shop.  If you are to stay here you will probably want to hop down the 116 to Guerneville or Sebastopol.
