At 7:30 this morning, a few of us set off on a 4.5 hour hike to the top of the gorge. The way was a gradual steepness - not too hard - and we were rewarded with beautiful panoramic views.

We also enjoyed a short reprieve with a Berber family who live in these mountains. They trade in the towns, but they interact only amongst themselves. For 5 dirhams each, we enjoyed a couple glasses of mountain mint tea, played with the cutest 2-yr old boy & photographed his 7-yr old sister. She carries her beauty in her eyes - like all Berber people. These people make up 60% of Morocco's population & were treated as the minority. Their language is only now allowed to be used in schools to teach the subjects. A lot of these people are uneducated because they did not want to learn Arabic or French - the languages spoken in schools. the current king - Mohammed VI - is making changes towards their recognition (I'm told).

Their beauty is in the eyes. I can't describe the colours, but I know that it ranges from shades of brown to hazel and the effect is almost liquid.

After dinner, we were treated to some drums. The sounds were pretty amazing and I now feel like I am in Africa.
