Once a guesthouse had been found, we had a chance to wander around and get a feel for the island. The beach is absolutely georgeous, with white sand and turquoise water. I am looking forward to hopefully doing some snorkeling tomorrow. There is also an overnight camping trip to Maya Bay (from the movie The Beach) that I am pushing for. I'll keep you posted about that one...
Tonight I was walking down one of the little streets here after dinner and I came across one of thoses places where you stick your feet into these fish tanks and these little fish eat the dead skin away. I had heard about it from one of my students last year and when I saw it, I knew I had to try it. I must admit that I was a bit nervous, but it didn't hurt, it just tickled. It kind of felt like a bunch of bubbles passing through my feet, only I knew what it was...
I'm not sure I will rush back to do it again, but I'm glad I had a chance to try it out.
The one downside of Ko Phi Phi is that it is quite busy and loud at night. It is actually quite late here, but the music is still really loud near the guesthouse I am staying in. I am thinking of everyone back home because I can hear "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey blasting from the restaurant near by... That is such a "Saints Song"! I think a move to the quieter side of the island is in store for tomorrow morning even if it means paying a bit more. I'll let you know how that turns out.
I'll write again soon. I tried to post my photos today, but I can't seem to figure out how to do it using just the iPad and not an actual computer. I will try to figure it out tomorrow.
