We bought a few very interesting paintings in SP for ourselves and for others. As usual, I take a picture with the artist if he is available. Luckily the artist of the colour painting was there while the two 'blue' ones were done by his father. The other two we bought for others were sold by an agent of the painter. Appropriately the tower in one of the 'blue' paintings is the clock tower in the photo.
Deciding to have a relatively early night after eating and watching the tennis at The Telegraph ( ( A British , Irish pretender) we went to bed relatively early night. After the usual poor breakfast we took a taxi to the station rather than take on the Metro.
Curiously, as the pictures show, the escalators are longer than any I have ever ridden. It took 2 minutes 53 seconds to get from top to bottom and how apt to be on one showing the first and 390th step ...what size motors keep these going?
In Moscow this time, after the train ride, we were even more tired and then simply headed to another Irish pub to watch tennis.
To wrap up we flew back to Vilnius feeling no great yen to return to the land of the Russkys notwithstanding the wonderful history and sights. We'll prefer the comfort of a more familiar language, cost of things, culture and hospitality.
In Vilnius.... we just like it or maybe the hotel's staff are just so much more hospitable. Luckily Aurimas was on duty to give us a room and help us with all sorts of things. Tomorrow we make for Poland.
