Today was our first day of classes, which was kind of hard to get excited for since it has been just about 2 months since I've had to worry about going to class!  I was pleasantly surprised, however, to find that the course topics and material is very intriguing and things that I think I will really enjoy learning about, as dorky as that sounds!

I have class Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. and am taking The Law of the European Union, The Law of the World Trade Organization, and Comparative Corporations.  There are about 35 students in my EU and Corporations class, and about 20 in my WTO class.  We have short reading assignments for each class period that the professors have told us will be followed very loosely, so it looks like I will be doing at least SOME studying while I'm here in Madrid :)  Although I haven't read the course materials in too much depth or had much other experience in these areas, I have a feeling that these courses might peak my interest in possibly pursuing International or Corporate Law, or at least persuade me to take more courses in those areas

Late this afternoon everyone in the program was required (yes we were forced, and no I wasn't very happy about it!) to split up into teams and participate in a city-wide scavenger hunt.  I was in a group of 5 and we were given 20 Metro tickets and a list of places that we had to go and take our picture at.  At first I'm sure this would sound like great fun, but you must remember that I'm not used to walking so much (maybe I'll tone up and lose some weight while I'm here ;)  ) and the hunt interrupted my siesta time.  Plus, we were supposed to all wear these t-shirts that they made for us that basically screamed we were tourists and that we were asking to get mugged.  We ended up seeing the Plaza de Mayor, which is one of Madrid's most popular tourist sites, as well as very cute and quaint areas of the city.  Needless to say, my feet, legs, and back are extremely sore and I am definitely ready to get a good night's sleep!
