Where I stayed
Jessica le Grant Hotel
So the train left at 23.10 and the journey had begun....away from civilisation, away from warm showers and large spacious bedrooms, and away from the maid and driver whose service we'd so enjoyed over the past 3 days!
While we were getting all our stuff sorted and making the beds and things, we got chatting to 3 guys in the berths opposite us, who were all legends to put it bluntly. Two of them were about 30-35 and worked for a travel company in India and so were REALLY helpful in suggesting what we could do, where we could stay in Goa etc. The other guy was travelling with his wife and baby son and he was also a really nice chap. He gave us loads of good info as well and spoke really good english.
We got off the trainan hour earlier than planned, because the guys suggested that this was better if we wanted to see the nicer parts of the "real Goa''. They even gave us a lift to a hotel near Calangute, where we managed to get an air conditioned room for two nights for both of us for just Rs 850 each (about 11.50 GBP)!! (Oh and breakfast is included too).....cashback!
So we're nicely settled in there, and its a little more than walking distance from Calangute, the little town, and so what we've done (and mothers don't freak out) is rented a scooter. It was all a bit 'under the table' and shifty, and we were told that if we were stopped by the police (dont know how likely that is) to just say that it belongs to a friend..either that or pay them off...actually it SOUNDS a lot shiftier than it really was..they were nice guys..just a little bit illegal i think!! It set us back just Rs 450 for 2 days use (roughly 7 GBP) so thats dandy!
ill put some photos up anyways, if not now then a bit later on, but but i think we're gonna GO And find a beach to relax on (lovely blue skies here, you see) so until next time!!!
