Liz:
There isn't too much to write here. We went to Callander to visit the town and the Callander House that resides here. The Callander name being Matt's Maternal Grandmother's last name. So we bought a bus ticket & rode the 15 miles north of Stirling to get there. A beautiful journey to a small town. We got to the tourist information office there & I asked where to go for the house & the guy in a very strong Scottish accent said. Hmmm...the Callander House, um, well, oh, it's in Falkirk, a common misconception that the Callander House is in Callander, but it is actually about 30 miles south of here. Turns out the Callander House was simply first owned by the Lord of Callander, but he wasn't a Callander & it has nothing to do with the name. So we took a few photos and headed back to Stirling to get the train to Edinburgh. Along the way, though you can barely see it is Duone Castle (pronounced Doone), this is the castle where Monty Python & the Holy Grail was filmed. It is apparently a very well preserved castle, but we didn't have time to go, it was onward to Edinburgh.
