Matt:
We arrived in Leeds an hour or so after we left York. After wandering around the train station trying to find Danny, we go to phone him, and standing by the phones is Danny. Wrong turn apparently. I wasn't expecting Leeds to be so large and urban. After being in York all afternoon, Leeds seemed very new. According to Danny, its become the second largest financial center behind London. We make a short trip to his place; they rent a three story house just outside the city centre in a university area so there is a large college population. We settled in and met the roommates; Danny's girlfriend Fran, and Troy and Carolina. Troy is a mate of Danny's; Carolina is Troy's girlfriend from Brazil. We relaxed in the kitchen with some bottles of Grolsch while Danny cooked a curry. It was a nice chicken curry; I'll definitely have to try my hand at some curries when we get back. Afterwards, the four of us headed out. This is what I learned on my first night out in Leeds: people drink wine at the bars, bottles even; the British love Bon Jovi; the British unite with song when Oasis is played.
