Today Jen was feeling a bit under the weather, and so we pushed back one of our tours until Wednesday. We didn't want to risk her getting any worse while out in the middle of the jungle. So we decided to hang around the hotel instead, lounge by the pool, watch some movies, read, etc. It was a nice day that certainly redefined 'vacation’ for us.
However, later in the evening Jen was feeling worse. She was worried that if she didn’t get better soon, we’d have to cancel tomorrow’s tour and since we were leaving on Thursday it would be impossible to ever to go on it. So we called up the local doctor and headed over around 6:30 in the evening.
When we say local…we mean it. He was a private practice doctor working out of his house, and was certainly very friendly. However, his office was little more than a very large closet complete with a table, some basic medication and equipment, and a traditional traveling doctors’ bag. Oh yes, and he didn’t wear shoes.
He prescribed some basic medication for Jen, which I picked up later in town. As I write this she is feeling much better. We still are laughing though about last night though at Dr. Acosta’s "office."
More tomorrow when hopefully we will get to see and play with monkeys and sloths!
