Know that Jerusalem (modern) is HUGE. sprawling suburbs ( really nice ones full of water fountains even though we are in the desert) for Jews and sprawling slums for Palestinians. When I say slum, I mean that they pay taxes to the municipality and do not get trash pickup. They do not get water every day through their pipes. They have over crowded schools, if any school. They have to go through checkpoints to get out of their neighborhoods. They cannot drive on certain roads. I'm serious. They are forced into poverty and cannot afford building permits. So they build anyway. Then the Israeli government demolishes their homes. It happens every day.

Today we visited OCHA which is the UN office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. It reaffirmed all of the human rights violations we have been learning about all week.

We visited the Church of the Holy Sepulcher where Jesus' rock that he was crucified on is and his tomb location.

We had lunch with an Israeli journalist named Orly Halpern and then we said goodbye to Jerusalem! I am ready to come home, back to the wonderful and free USA.

Do you remember that the Bernini statues on the Pont San Angelo in Rome represent the stations of the cross? And now you have visited the actual stations...Are you having a get together when you get home to show off your stash and photos? I would love to come.

P.S. Did you ever get interviewed by the MBC TV producer?

Mrs B on

Didn't hear back from the MBC man.

@Dawson-Where is your comment with all of the "free USA" citations? I haven't had a chance to check them yet...

Dawson Highland on

I'm not sure. Apparently it got deleted overnight.
