We started off the day auspiciously enough, as our promised driver and had apparently were moved somewhere else. The new driver seemed nice enough to start, but the car seemed seamed substantially older and the windshield was cracked. It took us about 2 hours to get to the first national park, opened up the roof of the car, and almost immediately we saw elephants in the not so far distance. Fred (the driver told us not to pay too much attention because he guaranteed we would see many more, and much closer). Shortly after that we saw a mini migration of wildebeest with some zebras. By mini migration I mean about 500 - 600, that slowly crossed the dirt road we were on. They did not seem to mind us at all as they slowly crossed the road and continued on to wherever they were going. We continued driving around and saw many giraffes, and elephants just a few meters away from us. The countryside was very cool, with tons of huge baobab's with massive vulture nests in them, sometimes even with the vultures themselves sitting and waiting for prey. We saw a variety of gazelles and impalas, and from about 40 meters we saw a couple of lions!

On our way out of the park we saw many Masai villages, with straw huts, and Masai tending their cattle, armed against predators with nothing but their spear and their fierce nature. No denying that we are in Africa!

That night we had a rather long drive to our campsite where our tents were set up for us, and a delicious meal was served. We chilled in the evening as wild birds flew over head, and we played some Kanasta. Malwinka and crew arranged a birthday cake for me, from muffins, fresh pineapple and a candle they managed to pick up along the way, and everyone sang Happy Birthday to me. A really great place to have a birthday is on Safari!
