Woke up early and upon a recommendation from my good friend Bruce I went to Sintra for the day.
Sintra is surrounded by several historic castles and palacio´s. Everything is built on the side of a mountain so once again I was hiking uphill most of the day. I found it all worthwhile. My first stop after taking in the sights of the town was Palacio de Pena. I spent most of my time there taking in the gardens and vantage points. The highest point of my day was at Cruz Alta (High Cross) where I was able to see all of Sintra, the ocean and surrounding area. After about 2+ hours I decided to make my way back down which was much easier on me than the descent in the mountains of Nepal.
The town of Sintra was bustling when I got down there unlike what it was when I first arrived. I chose to walk around a bit more before climbing aboard the train to come back to Lisboa. Since it was Sunday Lisboa was quiet so I walked around and took more photos taking advantage of this peace and quiet.
An observation of mine is that after being in cities where the taxis were beaters, here in Lisbon they are all recent models of Mercedes Benz. The drivers are generally well dressed and take pride in keeping their cars polished and shiny inside and out.
Until tomorrow when I am heading to the Torre de Belem and a closer look at the Ponte 25 de Abril and the sights to the west of Lisbon.

Wow.
Nice architecture! I didn't realize that place had that many castles. Very cool. My t-shirt size is large.
