Tuesday and Wednesday of this week I went to the Percussion Festival aptly titled Cracking Bamboo. The first couple of groups used bamboo as their instrument of choice.
I am just going to try to upload a few videos and you can be the judge - I utilized iMovie for the first time so hopefully it wont seem so choppy.

It was set in a really nice, intimate outdoor venue.

I thought it was all very good even the way out there avant garde stuff that I don't usually like too much. But all in all the only thing that would have made it better would've been seeing my friend Allen perform with this group, Percussion Group Cincinnati or if you haven't heard of them try this on for size(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NoAawp0UJy0) Its not my favorite performance I heard a great one live about a year ago but It gives ya something to listen to while you wait for the videos to download and it gets you in the mood for percussion

There are 4 videos of percussion groups here & hopefully the download wont take long - just snippets of the entire performances -  one more will be forthcoming but the upload is a long one and since I'm leaving for Halong Bay with my visiting friend Hazel it will have to be done next week. Its worth the wait I think

Next Year Allen!!

PS - two nights ago I had a delicious appetizer of pan-seared crickets - I wanted locusts but they were out of season - I'll get photos this week when I go back

What, no locust?! What kind of place is it where a guy can't get a decent plate of locust?! Crickets?! That's like going out for lasagna and they bring you a can of Spaghetti-Os!! What a rip! You know I was just about to book a flight over to visit you, but I don't know now. I think I'll wait until the locust are in season. I mean you know I can get crickets here!
