Arriving in Budapest at a very reasonable 4ish, I had some difficulty in finding accomodation. The difference between travelling in summer and winter, I suppose. I tried calling 10 different hostels, all of which were full, and finally resorted to walking in to one who, though they were full, were good enough to ring around and find me a place. Not the best hostel I've ever stayed at, but the staff were friendly enough, so all was good.

I had intended to have a very laid back, relaxed few days here. That didn't quite happen. I found out why all the hostels were so booked out. Not only was it middle of high season, but it also turned out that the Sziget music festival was happening. Have to love that timing!

A couple of days were spent happily meandering the streets and marvelling at the fact that I could be outside without several layers, gloves and a jacket, but my final day (and night) there was spent at the festival. So well set up, with so much going on all the time despite there not really being that much in the way of live music (comparatively so). The main reason for going was to see Radiohead, headlining the evening, but they turned out to be a little disappointing. Thankfully, the rest of the evening was fantastic, even if it did rain quite a lot. I'll put it down to generous amounts of alcohol and good company :) I really wish I had known about it before turning up, as I would have planned on going to a lot more of it instead of just one day.
