For various reasons, I didn't spend as long here as I had intended, but just long enough to get a good idea of the place. It has to be one of Europe's smallest capitals (and probably most unpronouncable), but the not-so-old core of the city is unbelievably charming. Little more than a (admittadly underwhelming) castle overlooking the river Ljubljanica, crisscrossed by several bridges and lined with cafes perfect for idling away a few hours watching the world go by, the whole area was designed the allegedly world famous architect Joze Plečnik. He seems to have been really quite busy in Ljubljana, as it seems you can't walk for more than a couple of minutes without stumbling across something he designed, but this does lend a pleasing consistancy to the whole place, and the Triple Bridge on the main town square is a bit of a landmark. If you're from Slovenia, I guess.
And that is it for Ljubljana, really. A nice atmosphere to the place, and probably a good place to hang out and do nothing, but I felt the need to move on to somewhere less urban, charming as it was.
