... is exactly how I wouldn't describe my time in Plovdiv :)

Despite the lack of hot water one morning (really getting quite cold here - stop me if I'm going on about it too much), Plovdiv was fantastic. I travelled up with a few people I met in Sofia, which has been really good fun so far, and stayed in a wonderfully cosy place, the Hikers Hostel, in the old town area. Unlike Sofia, Plovdiv is a lovely place to just walk around and explore with no real purpose. The old town is all winding cobble streets and half timbered houses, and the rest of the city isn't too bad either. Plenty of parks and open spaces.

The locals all seem very friendly too; on our first day we met a preacher named Harry, who took it upon himself to give us a guided tour of his church, and then decided he needed to practice his english, so walked us around the old town for 2 hours. I think he was trying to exhaust his entire vocabulary while he had the chance, and he didn't seem to need to breath whilst doing so. Yesterday, we met a potter by the name of Georgi and watched him work for a little while. He even let Kevin have a go on the wheel, although the results of this Georgi described as "abstract".

The hostel was a lovely little place, only ten beds, and came complete with a kitten! Very friendly owners, other guests were great company, couldn't ask for much more.

Yo little dude
Sorry i missed you leaving, but if you weren't in to receive my call that's your fault, not mine. So you should apologise to me.

Make sure you say 'Greetings comrade' to lots of people - you will become instant and lifelong friends. Especially as your life won't last much longer...

And just so as you know, it's cold here too, so you didn't need to go all that way. Snow on Thursday apparently.

Mikael
