Hello! Hello!

We have returned from Palau Sibu (Sibu Island). What an amazing place! It was another journey, but we ended up the only 2 people sitting on the beach at Palau Sibu. This is how our traveling day went.
(October 4th)
5:45am - roll our tired butts outta bed

6:30am - board the bus which we were told was a luxury bus with plenty of room to stretch out and even lay down...NEGATORY GOOD BUDDY

7:30am - Go through immigration into Malaysia - there were guards all along the road here with automatic weapons. As our bags went through the 'x-ray' security thing, the guy wasn't even looking. (Yes, we felt very safe...)

10:30am - Got off bus and switched to a taxi to take us to the dock.

11:00am - Arrived at the dock at Leman Beach only to learn that a boat would not be picking us up until 2:00pm. Not to worry, this gave us plenty of time to sit on a cracked wooden bench and avoid the stares of the locals for 3 hours.

2:30pm - We board the boat to Palau Sibu. This was basically a speed boat with a canopy on it.

3:00pm - We arrive on the white sandy beach with no one else in sight!

The 3+ hours wait at the dock was worth it. We were laying on the sand with no one else in sight and running into the South China sea to cool off every now and then. There were 12 huts right on the beach - this included a bed, and a bathroom. Other than people working on the island (bartender, and food) we have only seen 3 other people! A Heineken beer cost $10RM, which is about $3 Canadian (A nice change from Singapore).

The food was great on the island, and we met 2 other Canadians while we were there. At night, if you looked down the beach, you could see lots of crabs crawling their sideways crawls in and out of the wholes they had dug. The water was nice and warm, but was still able to cool us off after a bit of volleyball. (guess who has peed in the South Sea of China...Stay tuned for details)

I must admit, that Trevor is the current "Volleyball Pepper Champion" of Palau Sibu. He beat me in a best of three. I am hoping to overtake this championship in Viet Nam.

We will be leaving for Ho Chi Minh tomorrow at 12:30pm. We booked the flight in Singapore and the cost was about $90.00 each. We have to make our way to the Viet Nam Embassy tomorrow morning and pick up our travel visas before we take off. As we have apparently mastered their transportation system here, we should be able to make it there and to the airport in time.

Hope all is well with everyone.
Dana and Trevor.
