A new country but not without some minor dramas. Austrians and Poles need a visa for Malawi but if you speak to the guys at the border they'll still let you in as long as you promise to go to the immigration office within four days to get one. (No responsibility accepted if you try this and it doesn't work!)

Lake Malawi makes up 30% of Malawi's area so not surprisingly most activities centre around the lake. We camped here for two nights and it was beautiful. Because of its size the Lake is more like a sea, complete with beaches and small waves.

We went for a ridiculously long walk up the nearby hills to the town of Livingstonia. It was about 8 hours of walking with brief stops at waterfalls along the way and the Livingstone (the missionry who set up the town) museum. The views from the top of the hills over the Lake were quite special.
