Today we went to an island call Koh Haa (and another one I can't remember) where I did dive 3 and 4, which having completed means I am now able to dive without an instructor...as if that'll ever happen!
Panic stations hit when I had to swim under 6m of water with no mask on, which for a contact lens wearer means swimming with my eyes shut. Not nearly as bad as I'd imagined but v glad it's over. What a thrill though, I am actually seriously proud of myself for passing this course and hope I will get to dive again in the not too distant future, not in Scotland preferably. Snorkelling Sandra decided that diving is not necessarily for her, or her dodgy ear so passed with a Scuba qualification. Also something to be v pleased with and I'm pleased she got to do some snorkelling rather than just sit about the boat while I thrashed and flailed. Ah who am I kidding, my instructor said I did excellent and for once I feel really proud of myself. Yay me!!
Once we said our goodbyes to too kool kev (how long did we sit and listen to his dental tales, i'll never know) and sassy sas, we went for a celebratory beer where Sandy got her usual tipsy self on three mouthfuls. "Zer eez zomezing in zis be-ah".
Then we wandered back to our resort via the beach at sunset. Koh Lanta rocks, I love it.
Tomorrow we leave for Christmas at Railay Beach, but there's a storm a brewin', hope it holds off until, well until we leave quite frankly.
Kev never did master his Irish accent. I suspected this may be the case, even though I only offered mild words of encouragement, he pushed on til the embarrassing end. God love him. To be sure to be sure....
