So in the space of a few days we've had a 10 hour train journey, a 4.30am start, and now a 10 hour bus journey followed bt a 3.00am start!! (And we're supposed to be on holiday...!) But, my word, it was worth it......
Arrived at night so couldn't see much except the rather disturbing forest fires on the mountain side. Then next morning we got in to a jeep, across the sea of sand and then waited (temp only 4 degrees!) at the top of a mountain for the sun to rise....
Spellbinding.... Gradually saw light cast upon the landscape beneath us, awesome - would gladly have got up at 1am to se it! (as one crazy French bloke did (he walked!)) However Morgan (French Fella) got a viewpoint all to himself, whereas we were in the midst of tourist frenzy, must have been about 25 tourists there - well more than anywhere we've been since Taman Negara.
Then we descended in to the valley, pursued by men on horseback, before we walked up Bromo Mountain - views from here werent great and the sulphur got a bit overwhelming.... And still only 7 o clock!!
