Took the bus, nowhere near as interesting as a Thai bus, very bland.. But it was very comfortable and only had 3 seats to a row.

Cherating is supposedly the most happening place on Malaysia's east coast. We don't agree... The place is really dead, but we still had trouble finding a room as double beds are the norm, not twin rooms! The beach had hardly anyone on it, very weird. AT night there were loads of places to eat and drink, but the busiest one had 9 people in it! THe place seems geared up for a lot of people, but they just dont exist... But we did have our first beer for over a week! HAve to stay here as we pre-booked our next destination due to shortages of accomadation in the region.

Next day we sunbathed, there were a few more people around, including lots of locals and singaporeans. WE clambered round some rocks at the edge of the beach to find a secluded cove, this was good fun, but it did draw blood with Ratboy.

Night was a bit busier (it not being friday) with a fair few Asian people. I thought it was nice to be in a tourist resort that wasn't full of Western tourists, and felt a lot happier than the day before. HOwever the next day this changed....

Whilst we slept someone had come in to our room and stolen my day bag from right beside where I was sleeping. Grrrrrrrrrr!! Weird cos MAlaysia is supposed to be one of the safest places we've been to. Annoying as often I lock the door from the inside, chain my bag up, hide it under my bed etc. (WIth Rat calling me over cautious..) But as we were sober I thought we didn't need to take such precautions. Also irritating because we rarely carry more than about 20 quid of cash, but as there are no ATMs in this neck of the woods, we had the most cash ever, I was carrying about 200... Typical!

So woke up 200 GBP, a camera and a phone lighter... Fortunately they were criminals with a conscience as they ditched the rest of my bag in a cupboard and left my credit cards, passport, plane tickets etc. SO it could've been worse!!

We planned to go horse riding and wind-surfing today. That is now off the agenda...

Instead Rat went to the beach, and I spent 3 hours getting reports from Hotel, Police Station (His living room!), and cancelling stuff. Police were a bit of a pain and made me go to a different station the next day to get a report and seemed more interested in talking about Beckham and Gerrard than the theft!!!

Hotel owner did take pity though and we got a free meal including a well nice banana split. Nice fella.

Apologies for lack of photos for this (and probably the next) destination, but lack of camera neccesitates this!!
