Where I stayed
Quick flight to Nassau, then free transfer to Breezes all inclusive resort. Similar price to what we paid for a basic room in New York, we got a quality holiday experience here.
The hotel was a bit Butlins-esque, but it made for a really great time, the other holiday makers were a mixed bunch from US, Canada, UK mostly, but also some Italians, Russians etc. Drinks were great, and sambucas in the pool bar in mid-afternoon a little bit of a recipe for disaster, but all was good.
We chilled out the first afternoon, using the rubber ring that we'd brought from home, whilst others looked on envioulsy! Beach here (Cable) was one of the best we had seen all trip, and it was our hotel beach!
In the evenings we stayed at the hotel and saw the amateur but fun shows and spent time in the club where the DJ played what he wanted to hear and not what the public wanted. Only real down point of the place, oh and it has a damp problem..
So up relatively early next day for bus into Nassau - we saw a fort, the old town, then small boat to Paradise Beach, we walked through Atlantis Hotel to get here - we spent almost an hour but decided if we were to be on beach then may as well be at our hotel.
Back to boat, then to Pirates of Nassau, this was a bit overpriced but was an entertaining end to the day. Bus back to Cable Beach was even more entertaining, as it went off road to avoid the jams in places!
My birthday was relaxing ish and very enjoyable - we did the rock climbing wall, we are still rubbish at this, then we did a trip out on a small catamaran, just the two of us and a fella, then a bit of kayaking, then we did some trapeze thing, which was made but we were both glad we tried it, and then time to swim! Oh and the hot tub there was good as well, and as I say everyone was chatty and pleasant. This is one of few hotels where I could actually see myself staying a week.
We had one dinner in the hotel pre-booked restaurant which was nice to do.
And then we went home to reality, and work :(
