We had a free week from school (well, not really, but we took one anyway) and I decided to hit the road again.  The kids made it clear that we weren't to camp so I tucked my Eurovan tail between my legs and complied.  We're in the big' ol GMC truck instead...no travel potty, but room for everything else...and hotels....Not El Capitan camp ground, ....dang it.

I couldn't help but notice the ease that the kids slid into in Drive Mode.  They're travelers now.   Wait, We're NOT gypsie travelers...I'm not throwing Big 'ol' gypsie hooker daughter weddings....  NOT that kind of travelers.  I just mean, those kids can get in a car and expect some long hours of road travel...and hang tough...and point out Starbucs and Subways....and DQs...
They still suck at map reading....and if the cops don't want me on my phone, they SURE don't want me reading Mapquest, so these dang kids need to step up the map reading.  But we're making it happen...and a great deal of that is on account of the keen sense of direction that has passed down to me from my dad, papa...SHOUT OUT~~!

So, we started the day at the Etnies skakepark in Lake Forest.  I spent a wonderful 90 minutes talking with a home school mom while her sheriff / real estate broker husband and kids skated and we talked about the flat out goodness of God...funny those encounters...funny...

Then we struck out through the great LA and beyond to Simi Valley.  We got there before the skate park opened and decided to try the Old Susana Cafe...It filled the belly, but not the soul (sadly) and we moved on to the Skatelab skatepark for a few hours.

We had planned to make it to Ventura tonight but the sweet little motel "Viking" was sold out and the skatepark had special rates at the Best Western so we decided to stay in town.

With the 2012 election hanging on the cliff of our minds...and here we are right smack dang next to the Reagan Library...and we love him....I think that tomorrow's day will just have to begin with Ron and Nan...and, for sure, I mean not one ounce of disrespect....
