We are near Tinerhir today where there are two magnificent gorges. One is called the Dades and the other is called the Todra. Today we went to the Todra Gorge and along the way decided to climb up one of the sidewalls of the gorge. My mom stayed down with the car, while Anna, Dad, and I climbed to the top of the gorge. It was about 300 feet up to the top where we looked down on cars and people who looked like little ants. It was hard climbing but we did not use ropes like when my Dad and I go climbing on the North Shore.
These gorges are a really famous climbing area. Climbers from all over the world come to Morocco only to climb the Todra and the Dades. Most of the people are Spanish. When we got back to the car we saw some real climbers about 700 feet up a sheer wall. They had backpacks on their backs so they were probably camping on top of the mountain. That looked scary, but I might do that someday. I am thinking I would like to come back here someday to do more climbing up the harder parts of the walls. This was one of my favorites days yet in Morocco!
