Hello from the Italian Riveria!
We arrived to Riomaggiore around 2pm today and it is fabulous! If you haven't heard of this sleeply little fishing villiage on the rocky west coast of Italy, you should google it! We are staying in a small room here under and apartment on a cliff. It's really cool to actually look out our window and see the village people walking around. We have our own kitchen and bathroom AND it's really cheap. We paid 80$ Euro for two nights which is really a steal in Italy. Today we sat on the rocky beach and relaxed and walked up to the ruins of an old castle. There are no flat roads in Riomaggiore, so everything is stairs, stairs, and more stairs, and all of them are really really steep. People with any kind of physical limitation would definately hate this town, but we love it!
Tonight we bought pasta and fresh pesto, and fruit from the supermarket and made dinner in our little kitchenette. It was so much fun. Natalie was sooo happy becuase we have a TV with english channels and we actually get The Daily Show, which is her favorite tv show. It was nice to sit back and watch TV in our own room.
Tomorrow we plan on walking the Villa de 'amore, the path that connects all five villiages. We don't know if we'll walk the whole thing, becuase it can take up to 7 hours, but we are going to try to make it to a couple of villiages if our poor feet will let us. The food in this village is sinful and the pizza and pasta is like nothing I've seen, We would eat all day long if we could.
It's getting late, and the internet is 1.50$ Euro per minute, which is a little outrageous, so I'm going to go...
