Our actual arrival in Madrid was on May 19th. We rented a car from Avis on May 22nd and headed out on the road. They say that traveling for 6 months with one's girlfriend is a good test to see if you are compatible. If you have difficulty in getting 6 months off, may I suggest you take a road trip in a foreign country instead. Oh yeah, try getting the best map book that covers 2 countries and has somewhat detailed maps of the major cities!

Now that will be a test! We started our drive out of Barcelona and already got lost in the City. Vivian was the navigator and with a somewhat detailed map and poorly marked streets... we got lost right away! The signs sort of point you in the right direction but seem to cut out here and there. I tried to read the map and drive at the same time.... well we made it out and with me just a little stressssssed out! Was the whole drive going to be like this?!?

We made it to Cordoba to see some sights and to Malaga.... well actually Calhonda to meet up with Angelique. From there we visited:

the Rock of Gibraltar, England - had the biggest fish and chips ever; had a monkey jump on my head and pick through my hair like he was looking for bugs to eat; saw a tourist run for his life as the same cute little monkey tried to jump on his shoulder; got a cool stamp for our passports!

Tangier, Morocco - mainly tourist stuff here, snake charmer, dromedary ride, spice stores, rug stores and local food. Not too bad for an organized tour!

Granada, Spain - saw the Alhambra! One big, big, big fortress that takes the whole day to see!

Fuengriola, Spain - about 10 minutes from the resort, saw the movie X-men 3. Tried to find me in the movie but I looked like all the other soldiers. I think they used the scene I was in.... but then again I may have ended up on the cutting room floor! But they did have assigned seating here! (of course, we just heard that it is best to stay for the entire credits, which we skipped!)

Ronda, Spain - nice windy roads for all you motorcycle riders! Just some old buidings and a great view from a bridge.

Sevilla, Spain - dropped off Angelique at the train station, got lost and drove through some crazy narrow streets. Good thing we had a tiny car! We did manage to see some of the old touristy buildings though!

Oh yeah... we also saw the Inside Man and the Davinci's Code. Unfortunately for us the French and Latin were translated into Spanish so we missed out twice! Guess we will have to see the movie again.

Yes I know, we are traveling and seeing the world..... well we still have to stay current with the new movies coming out!
