After a 12.5 hour speed boat ride which was only meant to take 10 hours, we arrived in Iquitos tired, hungry and in need of a good rest. Arriving in the port, we had to fight our way through a frenzy of motor taxi drivers wanting to take us to our desired destination or anywhere else.

We opted for the walk after being sat down for hours on end. This allowed us to take in the local area of markets, parks and millions of motor taxis. We were expecting our hostel to be fairly dim and basic as it only cost us $7 for the night but it had a nice fawlty towers feel, with a talking parrot and a slightly eccentric owner. This hostel also allowed Liam to reenact a scene from Fawlty towers by putting a stag/moose on our wall as there was a plethora of dead animals decorating the walls including, amongst others, a bear/robot, alligator and snake.

We took a walk to a lovely promenade with waterfall picture frames, fish shaped trees and a rock bar that played no rock music (although the karaoke bar next door played one guns and roses song).

As we were only in Iquitos for one day and didn't really see much of it we are not in a suitable position to rate it. However if we had seen a pink dolphin it would have automatically got a thumbs up.
