We flew from Cali to Leticia as we were told that the boarder crossing to Peru is easier and less dangerous here. Leticia is nestled between Peru and Brazil and you can walk freely between the countries as long as you have the entry stamp from one of them. Which meant we got a good photo of Steph in brazil taken by Liam in Colombia whose passport said he was in Peru (rock and roll).

Another attraction to Leticia is that we would have the opportunity to spend a night in the jungle and ride the Amazon all the way to Iquitos in Peru. It was also unlikely to have any stinky gooners to help remind Liam of spurs usual shortcomings (unfortunately the hostel owner happened to be a Colombian Chelsea fan!).

Our original plan was to hop on a boat that took 3 days to travel to Iquitos but we quickly changed our minds when the owner of our hostel told us we would be riding with cows and
Porks

Whilst in Leticia we took a dug out tree canoe to the island of Santa Rosa (Peru) to get our passports stamped, visited a park where millions of miniature parrots go mental at Sunset (they fly between tree to tree squawking loudly), and visited Brazil.

Our hostel was a jungly retreat, very basic but with the charm of being set in a jungle setting. We had a number of unusual visitors in our room including about one million ants, they were everywhere ( Steph literally had ants in her pants!), a frog in our bathroom and a cat under our bed. It was an interesting experience. We also took a 12.5 hour JET boat down the amazon to Iquitos.

Leticia gets a thumbs up.
