Bogota is 2620 meters above sea level, making it pretty high, it literally takes your breath away. It also makes it pretty cold too so out came the long trousers and fleeces! We stayed in the backpacker area of Bogota (la Candelaria) which, unfortunately dad, was definitely a little dodge. However with police on almost every corner it felt fairly safe. Whilst here we wandered around the town which is a combination of sky scrapers with mountain backgrounds and old colonial looking buildings. We were told the must see thing to do in Bogota was to visit the gold museum however after seeing 20 rooms full of old gold, it gets rather dull.

We did however enjoy visiting the Botero museum which is an art museum concentrating on larger people/animals. We also were quite impressed with the money museum which showed the history of Colombian Money and how it is made (and had some impressive looking machines imported all the way from the exotic location of Birmingham!).

We also took a very steep cable car up to the top of a mountain with a beautiful view of the whole city. We really liked this and it had the best view I have ever had at a urinal (Liam's view not steph's).

Overall we are a little undecided about Bogota. It wasn't great but it wasn't terrible either. The rain and cold made it feel a little bit like manchester! It gets a cold, shaky hands even.
