Where I stayed
Staying in the Belly of the Beast in Mong Kok which is the heart of the shopping zone in Kowloon.
I was walking around last night (Sun) and the place was still jam packed at midnight. Crazy! There is no where in Australia that will have a crowd of frenzied shoppers at midnight on a Sunday, but here it's just another day.
Hotel is basic, pretty much a broom closet with a bed and TV but was so tired didn't care. Here's some of the prices to compare to wherever your reading this. At the moment $1 Aus = $7.5 HK.
Room = $200 HK
Beer 1ltr = $12 HK (cheaper than milk and coke)
Meal 1= $52 HK (Vietnamese noodles, Vietnamese spring rolls, bowl of rice and Coke)
Meal 2= $37 HK (Giant bowl of Yunnan style noodles almost couldn't eat it all)
Internet 2hrs= $12 HK
All the 7/11 sell beer 24 hours a day and no one cares if you drink in the street including the cops who are all fit, skinny looking young guys and girls.... hahaha!
Internet cafes are just bedlam due to the fact that they havn't invented headphones here, surrounded by the noises of 60+ computers blaring out C-Pop and games so I'm fighting back by blasting death metal into the stratosphere (much to the annoyance of the girl sitting next to me)
Out of here tomorrow, into the chaos that is mainland China which is literally a different world to Hong Kong.
