Day 8

This morning I woke up thinking that just one week ago, we had left the cold and miserable weather from back home and traded it for this fabulous one in Cancun.   We had left when the second of a series of three major snow storms was developing and all of this, within few days apart!   If you ask me, we had left just in time!

As I lay lazily in bed at 7:00am, I wondered what kind of weather was awaiting us in Canada because you see, today was our last day here in Cancun…….we were leaving for back home!

Since our transfer to the airport wasn't leaving until noon, at least this gave us the morning to take advantage of Cancun’s gorgeous weather and enjoy the last several hours we had left here.

After a delicious breakfast, we walked along the beach’s shore for a last time while occasionally resting on the lounging chairs doing nothing.   The warm breeze of the Caribbean Sea was welcomed on my body as I thought of everything that I had done this past week.  Time had gone fast but I can say that I had a wonderful time here and enjoyed every minute of it.

At noon, we were ready and boarded the mini bus with other guests leaving as well.  The ride to the airport was a short one and first thing we knew…..we had boarded the plane and were on our way high above the clouds heading for back home, for much cooler weather.

Eric was waiting for us at the airport.  After recounting to us the events of the last seven days in which Mother Nature had dumped tons of inches of snow over three major snowstorms, I could see that the city was still digging itself out since many sidewalks and streets hadn’t been plowed.

Many houses appeared almost buried by the white stuff, mountains of snow were everywhere but the main streets had been cleaned and we didn’t have any problems driving back home.

Our house was buried halfway by snow as well.   We couldn’t even park in our driveway and the city’s sidewalk hadn’t been plowed.    With suitcases in hand, we had to climb on top of the hard frozen snow banks which had formed over time.

But hey, I was now back home safe and sound and wouldn’t have traded my week down south to sunny Cancun for anything else.  I now had very fond memories of my fabulous trip and that’s all that mattered!    Plus.......I had a gorgeous tan to show off!    Hehehe!

Until next time, safe travels!

The End!
