Day 5

Since we were staying at the "Riu" chain of hotels, what do you think this meant!   It meant that we had access to all of them situated right here in Cancun and this, just as if we were staying there!   We could use their facilities, pools and beach, we could even eat there and have tons of cocktail drinks all day long!  All we had to do was show them our wrist bracelet identifying us as guests to the "Riu's"!   Or better yet, say nothing and have them look for our bracelets!  Hehehe!

Once we'd finished eating our breakfast, we decided to give it a try and spend a good portion of the day at the “Riu Cancun”, a mere 20 minute bus ride from here.  After all, what did we had to loose except spending a gorgeous day at another place!   Therefore, after inquiring at the concierge desk about the bus schedule and everything else, with change in hands, we patiently waited outside along the street right in front of our hotel for the bus to come around!

Luckily for us, we didn’t have to wait very long because after a mere 10 minutes, we were onboard the bus and heading down the street en route to the other “Riu”.   Being a gigantic 16-story high rise, we simply couldn’t miss the hotel.    Actually, we could even see it in the far distance and as we got nearer and nearer, we even noticed that a bus stop was right in front of it!   Life couldn't be any simplier!

Looking much bigger than our hotel in size, it could accommodate up to 569 guests.   So if you ask me, it might have appeared bigger in size but actually, it wasn't!   This one being built from ground up as a high rise, ours was lengthwise.  Regardless of the size, the Riu Cancun had this luxurious appeal to it and guess what……was just steps away from fabulous shopping!  I knew instantly that I was going to enjoy my day here at this hotel.

Upon entering the Riu Cancun, luxurious architecture decorated the entrance lounge where the sun’s rays piercing through the glass windows made the marble floors shine endlessly!   The ceilings were hand painted with flowers and frescos whereas the walls, they had many Spanish-style oil paintings.  A huge ceiling glass dome added beauty to the lounge while the plants and flowers made the entire place vibrant with life.  No need to tell you…..I immediately made myself at home as I walked all around without any problems!   Hehehe!

Set along a dazzling white sand beachfront, the exterior grounds proved to be well maintained where fountains and colonial arches decorated this elegant hotel.   We took our time and wandered around enjoying ourselves in between rests.

By 1:00pm, we were ready to settle down and have lunch in the interior huge dining room where a variety of food was served at the buffet style counters.    Here, we had a great time and enjoyed the meal.

After leaving the hotel, time was taken to walk to the shopping plaza right down the street from here.  Most people spoke English so we didn’t have any problems browsing around and buying little souvenirs.

By 3:00pm, we were back at our hotel which might have been smaller in size compared to the other one, but it was as much enjoyable and even more cozy if you ask me!

The evening was spent watching the entertainment show after having had dinner at the Asian Restaurant.   It was the second time that we were eating here and just like the first one, the use of the chopsticks couldn't me mastered!  But hey, the food was as good with or without them and in my book, that's all that mattered!  Hehehe!
