Day 17 - noon

Day 10 - Northern Experience Tour
              38 Celsius, sunny blue sky

It was almost 12:30pm when we've stopped for lunch.  As usual, we were in the middle of nowhere but somehow, this place had character!

We were surrounded by land completely flat and covered by sand in this Skeleton Coast Park where one could see miles away!   Hardly any living shrubs were in view, the only ones seen were all dried and dead looking.

Only a small tree of practically a meter high appeared to be surviving this desert’s heat and looked well taken care of as rocks were placed around it by obviously past travelers having gone this route!  In the horizon, mountains appeared almost blue under the sun’s glare.

It felt awesome to be completely separated from civilization and feel the spirit of adventure because "adventurous", we’ve become!   This was part of our African journey in which whether you liked it or not, we had to get used to areas like this one where land was completely flat and bare with nowhere to hide….if you know what I mean!

As for Michel, he appeared quite comfortable and completely at ease to walk a fair distance away to do his business!   If you ask me, he was born to be a natural or better yet, a primitive!   Hehehe!

Glass bottles of beer lay flat and broken on the desert sand having been disposed of by thoughtless travelers.     By taking a closer look at them, a genie was found........or I should say......two genies were found as Michel stood in a bottle as well!

Once more, an inuksuk statue was built by none other than Michel, the artist who appeared quite proud of himself afterwards.  Still…..it looked like a pile  of rocks if you ask me!

We passed the time by amusing ourselves with little things found in this offbeat desert such as doing balancing acts on rocks!   Quite imaginative right!   Could have been the heat making us act like this or......were we turning like kids all over again!

An hour later, we were back inside Mhondoro continuing our journey down the rugged road!   The mercury had risen in the vehicle's  thermometer as we got further inland and away from the cooler Atlantic coastline!   And then all of a sudden, we were back feeling the intense heat of this Skeleton Coast Desert Park!

Allo Patrick,
They were bottles of beer left behind by other travelers. Some were broken while others weren't. By being bent practically on all fours on the ground, we were able to take these genie in a bottle pictures. No special effects....imagination only. Mo.
