Day 13 - evening

A welcoming drink was waiting for us as we made our way inside the hotel's lounge!  Drinking it slowly, it had a sweet taste to it and succeeded in filling me up since I was thirsty!  As Ernesta proceeded in giving us information about the hotel’s surroundings, keys to our rooms were handed to each and every one of us.

Anxious to see where they were located in this newly renovated hotel, with keys in hands, we all hastily disappeared in various directions with us leading the way up the stairs.   You see, our rooms were mostly on the second floor with only a few having it on the third.

While wondering if we had a room with a view or not…..excitedly the bedroom’s door was open in a jiffy in which to our greatest joy, you’ll never guess what!    We finally had a room with a fantastic view!  Yeahhhh!

I couldn’t believe my good fortune!   An incredible view of the sea was right in front of our balcony.  I was ecstatic!   I could have danced right there on the balcony but of course, I didn’t!   The happy dance was done inside the room!   Ha, ha, ha!

Since we had the rest of the evening free, it was time for us to hit the streets as they say and see what this lovely small town of Sorrento had to offer!   As we walked along the streets, many locals drove scooters right passed us on these never ending side alleys.  This small town’s atmosphere reminded me of many old classic movies that I’ve seen!

Small merchandise stores sold everything from souvenirs to bath soaps.  They also had lace fabrics in which once I set eyes on a pink and purple colored embroided tablecloth, say no more…...I had to buy it.

The atmosphere was quite enjoyable as we continued to walk in semi darkness while trying to decide which restaurant to choose from all of the ones we’ve seen so far.  They all looked inviting but in the end, we settled for the "La Lanterna", a nice cozy restaurant hidden in a side alley that had that special Italian feeling to it!

Since we wanted to make it different, we elected to sit on the exterior’s patio terrace plus the evening wasn’t that cold!  An oil lantern decorated the center of the small square table as well as a small vase of flowers.  The ambiance was romantic and we were here to have a taste of Italy’s Italian food!

Michel rapidly ordered an Italian beer upon the recommendations of the waiter.  I had a glass of pure orange juice mixed with lemon in which the fruits were freshly picked from the trees growing around the restaurant.   I know all this from the waiter telling me!  Ha, ha, ha!

Homemade lasagna was ordered for both of us along with warmly baked garlic bread.   The evening was spent in a relaxing atmosphere where the stars shone above our heads while we ate the delicious food.

And then, darkness fell upon us as we slowly made our way along many narrow streets before arriving back to our hotel feeling quite satisfied with our little escapade of the evening!
