This morning, our suitcases were left quite early outside our hotel's bedroom door. This was mainly due to me having decided to take the first transfer out to the airport, the 6:30am one instead of the 8:30am even though our plane was leaving only at 12:30pm. This way, I told Michel, I wouldn’t be rushed and would have all the time in the world to shop at the airport! Good thinking, right! Hehehe!
Goodbyes were said to those around us as well as many thanks were given to our guide Ernesta! And then, the time came to leave and with four other couples we boarded a mini bus heading towards the airport. Surprisingly, even though it was only 6:30am, the traffic was heavy but at least we weren’t that far away from the airport.
Well, even though this was kind of a disappointment, the goods news were that we were given access to the airport’s lounge to drink, eat and do whatever we wished to do up until our departure time. Of course, all of this free of charge! Plus, free access to Wi-fi as well! Hurrah for Italy’s airports!
We ate, drank and ate and drank again! Time went by slow but I had my IPad to play with and Wi-fi to send emails back home telling family members of our late arrival!
At exactly 15:45pm, the plane ran down the runway and we flew up into the awaiting sky while I glanced for one last time through my window’s seat the city of Rome that we were leaving behind! What crossed my mind at that moment was if I’ll ever step foot back here again after all, I did throw that coin into the Trevi Fountain or was that simply a fiction! Ha, ha, ha!
Our flight was uneventful and actually went by quite fast. I must have been really tired since I dozed most of the time and first thing I knew, we had landed in Toronto and waiting for our next connecting flight out to Ottawa.
