Day 13 - afternoon
With wide eyes open, I stayed glued to my window seat as Ciro drove us on an endless narrow winding road along high elevated sea cliffs that would have made your eyes popped out as we were so close to the edges! Not that it was scary or anything like that but the view…..ah the view, it was absolutely out of this world!
In the horizon, the sun's glare reflected on the sea’s surface preparing me in advance for this amazing popular tourist destination that we were heading to. You see, we were fast approaching Sorrento and already I was falling in love with this small town located in the south of Italy.
I was quite happy when a brief stop was made along the cliff for photos opportunities in which the minute I stepped out of the bus, the warm breeze of the sea could be felt on my face!
Ten minutes later, we were in Sorrento being driven along the narrow streets where scooters appeared to be a popular way of transportation and where many patio terraces were filled with tourists.
Rapidly, we all disembarked from the motor coach and followed our guide down several side alleys for a good ten to fifteen minutes. We were heading towards our seafront hotel, the Regina Hotel Sorrento.
Now you’re probably wondering why we had to walk this short distance to our hotel. Well, you wouldn’t believe me if I tell you how narrow these side streets were; our huge monster of a bus wouldn’t have been able to make it through!
At least, we didn’t have to carry our suitcases; these were being taken care of by the hotel’s management. It wouldn’t have mattered to me anyway, Michel would have carried mine! Ha, ha, ha!
The short distance that we walked gave me the opportunity to see in advance what surrounded our hotel and let me tell you, many shops were seen along the way in which I kept telling myself that I had to come back just to have a look! Hehehe!
To be continued…. Monique :-)
