Today was quite an exciting day! We all went to the…….guess where…….to the zoo! Yeahhhhhhh! To the "Parque de las Leyendas" zoo, to be more precise, here in Lima! Having been in Lima three years in a row, I never knew the city had a zoo! Well, I guess you learn something every day as the old saying goes!
Fiorella, Justin and her parents picked us up at the hotel. Once all squeezed inside the car, it was 9:30am when we departed like a bunch of happy little kids…can't speak for the others but I was! Yeahhhhh again!! The forecast was calling for a beautiful sunny day, as usual, and I could sense it in the air! Hmmmmm! I just love warmmmmm and hotttttt weather I told Michel! However, I realized too late that I should have brought a hat and some suntan protection lotion with me! I’ll probably be all burnt and red by the end of the day! Groan!
Well, being seated four in the back of the comfortable small car made it quite cozy. It was a good thing I didn’t eat too much this morning I thought to myself….ha, ha, ha! It could have been worse, we could have been six sitting in the back seat which I've often seen in other cars, this being quite legal here in Peru! However, Fiorella and I both agreed that Justin should have sat in the front with her father while her mother, with us in the back! Next time! Ha, ha, ha!
With a nice refreshing breeze, all windows were open as it was getting hotter in the back of the car. All this coziness! Ha, ha, ha! Down the streets, Walter drove with ease while I kept admiring many magnificent Spaniard buildings and wonderful vistas all around me.
On our way to the zoo, a short stop was made at Mili’s apartment, Fiorella’s sister, for us to view her newly purchased condo. It proved to be quite beautiful with a fantastic view of the Pacific Ocean! Hmmmm…to dream about!
The zoo was finally reached and by then, the sun was really hot and radiant in the blue colored sky. Since I didn’t bring any hat with me, well you knew this from having read all of the above, I hope, hahaha, I did buy one at a small souvenir stall whereas Fiorella and her mother, wearing hats already, opted to buy umbrellas for better covering up. After all, none of us wanted to have for the wedding any sunburns on our skin and shoulders, especially the bride! So Fiorella was pretty much all covered up in all this heat!
At the zoo, various paths were taken and followed which brought us to numerous themes of the park. I saw zebras, giraffes, a panther, a cheetah or was it a leopard…..and even a small portion of a hippo’s back....well I think it was a hippo....because he never bothered lifting his head out of the small pool! There were even monkeys and birds to view and beautiful landscapes and lovely flora to admire. No elephants though! :-(
After a fun time at the zoo, we headed for a bite to eat. We were getting really hungry by then, Justin even more! Ha, ha, ha! Since Justin was deciding where we should go for lunch….it wasn’t very hard to guess which restaurant we were heading to…..that’s right…..Pizza Hut! Sounds familiar…..it was very good though and we all enjoyed it greatly! Gracias!
By 3:30pm, we were dropped back at our hotel after thanking our hosts for a wonderful and exciting day. Tonight, Patrick and Sabrina will be arriving at the airport around 10:30pm from Canada. Justin and Fiorella will be heading there to greet them. Afterwards, the four of them will be living at Mili’s condo. She was very nice to offer her place for them to live during their stay here. Fiorella and Justin will be staying there too, whereas Mili, she'll be heading back to her parents' house. Muchas gracias Mili!
In the evening, Michel and I, being all by ourselves, opted for a nice relaxing walk around the Larcomar Mall and along the cliff. It was quite pleasant to enjoy the nice warm breeze and the colorful set of lights at night while thinking at the same time about the upcoming wedding which was fast approaching! Monique :-)
