Day 15 (afternoon – evening)

Temperature: 12 degrees
Weather:   cloudy
=====================

We had lunch along the way and two hours later, a short stop in a town called Tekirdag.  Here, we were able to stretch, walk for a while and have a small bite to eat before continuing on with our long drive ahead of us.

As usual, I stayed glued to my window seat where again, minutes turned into hours and where various scenes were seen all over again.  Through valleys and hills we drove as well as through towns and cities we did!   By now…I've done it all, seen it all…..

The countdown had finally started….it was a matter of time, a matter of minutes……

Three, two, one……..Hip hip, hurrah!  We were finally back in Istanbul!    We were back to where our journey began a few weeks ago, we were back at the Conrad Hotel!   What an amazing feeling it was!   It seemed as if we left ages ago because since then, I’ve seen and done so many wonderful things and now had a lot of mileage on me to prove it!   In total, we travelled 3,500 Km across western Turkey!  Wow!   And let me tell you, what an incredible journey it was!

Keys to our rooms were given to each and every one of us.   We didn’t have the same room as before when we stayed here prior to our tour departure plus this one didn’t have a balcony but regardless, it was cozy enough for me to collapse.

By now it was 5:00pm and we had the rest of the day at leisure in which Michel and I wandered once again along the familiar streets of Istanbul as well as explored new avenues which gave us another outlook of the city’s life and culture.

We eventually landed at our familiar Pizza Hut restaurant in which the same meals were ordered and devoured.  It was dusk by the time we made it back to the Conrad Istanbul Hotel, where the top floor was revisited and where a stunning view of Istanbul’s entire city at night was seen all over again!

             I was back on familiar grounds and enjoying every minute of it!

Statistics for the day:
        Total Km:      Canakkale – Istanbul:  360 Km.
        Total hours:  Canakkale – Eceabat ferry crossing:  30 min.
                               Eceabat ferry crossing to Gallipoli battle grounds:  20 min.
                               Gallipoli battle grounds to Tekirdag:  2 hours 45 min.
                              Tekirdag to Istanbul:  2 hours
