Day 9 (morning)

Temperature:   12 degrees
Weather:   grey sky changing to blue
==============================

  With the daily seat rotational changes, today was my turn to sit at the very back of the motor coach, in other words, to sit in the very last row.  But I couldn’t be happier!  From the back of the bus, I had terrific views of everyone in front of me plus around me.  But most importantly, Michel and I had the company of our dear Aussie friends Rosy and David sitting right next to us on our left side.

Rosy and I had the time of our lives as we chatted and laughed while snapping pictures all around us.  I would duck from time to time as she took pictures on my side of the bus and she would do the same for me as I took pictures from her side.  All of this of course, as our hubbies slept occasionally!

The landscape seen along the way was quite exceptional as it changed drastically before my very own eyes as time went by.  It looked as if the land was awakening from harsh winter months by turning richer on its surface while valleys, greener in colors!   Farmers were also seen cultivating the soil in preparation for sowing and planting.

The snow covered mountain ranges that followed us throughout a good part of our journey…..well the highway led us right into them.   I was blown away by the mountains beauty right next to me and startled as we drove endlessly along the winding roads and…..cliffs.  Ahhhhh!!    Luckily, the road was in excellent condition and Harun had a good heavy foot which he applied occasionally on the motor coach’s brakes.  But the landscape….quite amazing!

A short stop was made along the highway’s shoulder in the middle of nowhere for us to capture the beauty of the mountains at close range and of course, to take pictures.  I was surrounded by snow but it wasn’t that cold.  The sun beamed high above the mountains, the sky was blue….it was a perfect day to be driving in Turkey’s mountain ranges.  Plus I felt just like back home with all of the white stuff around me.   Snow balls were thrown at each other; we were just like kids having fun!

So….a good part of the morning was spent on the motor coach being driven along a winding highway dotted with steep hairpin turns, long S-curves and sharp descents, all of this in between snow covered mountains…..quite an overwhelming experience!

A stop was eventually made for lunch in a town called Seydisehir at around 11:30am!  By then, we were out of the snow covered mountain ranges!
