Day 5 (late evening)

Temperature: 5 degrees
Weather:  dark sky, colder
=====================

Back at the hotel, it was 8:00pm when we met the group at the restaurant's elegantly decorated dining room where there was no buffet style dinner awaiting us.   Why?  Because tonight, we had the luxury of being served “A la carte”, a five meal dinner course with the main meal being beef or chicken!

What!   Calling the waiter, I immediately explained to him through Daghan’s translation, that I was a vegetarian (the only one in the group by the way) and that I didn’t want to be served any beef nor chicken. “No problem”, he quickly replied adding that the Chef would cheerfully prepare a very special meal (I quote Michel saying “a special meal for fussy little old me”) which made me instantly smile from ear to ear!

So, my very own special vegetarian meal turned out to be fried vegetables but not ordinary fried vegetables!  Vegetables fried by the Chef himself and properly placed on a plate and decorated with leaves of parsley giving it a, “a la carte” look!  Curiosity made everyone glance at my meal while Michel laughingly mumbled that I should have had the chicken, he would have eaten it! The dessert was superb!

By now, we had made several acquaintances with whom we ate and chatted the evening away.  One of those newly made acquaintances was a middle-aged couple named Rosy and David.  They were born in Hong Kong but had immigrated 25 years ago to Australia.  I could see right from the beginning that Rosy, just like me, enjoyed taking pictures.  She sported a Nikon D90 camera with an18-200 telescopic lens whereas me, I had a much newer model, a Nikon D7000 with the same lens as hers.

Since we shared the same passion, we exchanged notes much of the evening, such as how many pictures taken on previous trips, etc…  I could see right away that I was in for a fierce competition as to whom would be taking more pictures on this trip and that the battle was already on as we both snapped numerous pictures of places seen so far!  So far, so good….I was on top of things, I had taken more pictures!  While this went on, Michel and David jokingly laughed at us!   However, Rosy and I both agreed on one thing.  That I would take pictures of her with her husband and she would do the same for me!

Before retreating to my room for the night….. I walked around the impressive Ankara Hilton Hotel admiring its décor….snapping more pictures….and of course, paying a visit to its interior’s swimming pool area and gift shop.
