Brazil Tour:  Day 9 - Amazon rainforest

Imagine catwalks 100 feet up built among the Amazon treetops leading all around hectares and hectares of rainforest with monkeys, parrots, and many, many more exotic wildlife scampering, fluttering and dangling all over the place!  Just imagine!

Well, that's exactly what I imagined and pinched myself as I was wangling all over the place on the very narrowed walkways elevated 100 feet way above the ground while holding tightly on the vertical suspension cables on both sides of me which were anchored at each end of the trees.   Quite exciting, youuuuuu bet it was!

By being way above ground, I was able to see and admire so much of the natural beauty and wildness of this majestic Amazon rainforest, the one and only largest tropical rainforest on this planet.   You probably knew this…but I just wanted to say it over again!   :-)

Needless to say, by escaping here in the early hours of the evening, Michel and I were having the time of our lives as we dangled,  just like the monkeys around us, from trees to trees stopping several times to survey the grandeur and diversity of the Amazon rainforest surrounding us.

As we climbed a metallic observation tower that brought us even higher above the trees, the panoramic view of the endless rainforest was totally breathtaking.  We could even see the complex where we were staying.  We stayed on the tower for a good half an hour observing several species of birds flying by and the thousands of trees way below us.

Throughout our catwalk expedition, we had the company of guess whom?   We had the company of the red-faced female monkey who had followed us all around by jumping from trees to trees herself.  Now that we were on the tower, she came even closer and just looked at us while eating some green leaves from the trees.  Awesome!  She must have been in loved with Michel to have followed us so far away in the jungle!  Hu, hu!

Well, our catwalk trekking lasted for a good two hours and was money very well spent.  It allowed us to" monkey see” and "monkey do” and have a great time and fun doing it.

The two guides brought us back to our lodge in a small wooden motorized canoe but not before giving us an enjoyable ride in the creeks where we did some more bird watching and alligators sightseeing.

By the time we were back at the lodge, a dazzling sunset was settling on the horizon putting the entire sky on fire once again.
