Day: 3 (late afternoon)

Temperature:  high 20s
Weather:  Blue sky, sunny periods with clouds
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I already had my cocktail dress on as I desperately attempted to do several hairstyles with my hair.  Regardless of the way I placed them, they really looked a mess.  Without my sculpture gel, my rollers or even my curling iron, it was a loose battle in which I definitely wasn't winning.  My hair simply looked awful in this kind of weather and it was giving me a really bad hair day!!

Through this all, I was getting desperate, I was panicking, I no longer wanted to leave my room to go to the wedding!  With tears in my eyes, I reached for the telephone as a cry for HELP calling the cellular phone number that Justin had given me.  However, to my grand surprise, Fiorella was the one who answered the call.   She was the person who had the cellular phone and not Justin as I thought who had it.  That was when I totally blew it…..

Poor Fiorella!  She herself was at her hairdresser getting all pampered up for her upcoming wedding and here I was bothering her with my little problems.  She managed to understand me in between my sobs and to save my day by taking everything in charge and calling the hotel’s management where I was staying and giving them the address of her hairdresser.  Calling me back afterwards, she informed me that a taxi would be picking me up at the hotel and would be bringing me to that address.  That her hairdresser would fix my hair and that she would be there waiting for me.  Wow!

So here I was at 4:15pm rapidly tearing my cocktail dress off and rapidly putting my jeans and a blouse on.  I was running after time and it was getting late.  Will I make it on time I asked myself as Michel and I rapidly ran out of the room and to the elevators.  After all we had a good twenty minutes ride by cab in front of us.

Downstairs, the hotel management was waiting for us with the taxi driver.  In Spanish, they provided details to the cab driver of the address and off we went down the street hoping that we wouldn’t be stuck in the traffic during rush hour on a Friday night.  However, the taxi driver didn’t seem to know where he was going as he kept reading the address on the piece of paper the hotel had given him and inquiring on two occasions about the address to bystanders.  To make matters worse, he didn’t even speak English!

The 30 minutes ride to the hairdresser was a ride of pure hell in which I kept telling Michel that the cab driver was lost and didn’t even know where he was going.  That it was quite late and that Justin would be worrying and wondering where we are.  After all, we were supposed to meet at the hotel at 4:30pm and here we were almost 5:00pm somewhere lost in Lima, the two of us looking quite ridiculous in the taxi.  At one point, I even thought about telling the driver to turn back, to bring us back to the hotel as I honestly thought that it was too late!!!

Miraculously, at 5:00pm, Fiorella’s hairdresser address was finally found and out the cab Michel and I both jumped and hastily walked to the salon’s entrance.  Fiorella was there waiting for us.  She looked stunning even with her rollers on.  She provided instructions to her hairdresser and off I went getting all pampered up…….

It was 5:50pm when we arrived back at our hotel and opened the door of our room thinking that Justin wouldn’t be there or what kind of mood he might be due to the time.  However, to our grand surprise, he, himself had just arrived ten minutes earlier and had just finished taking a shower.  HE HIMSELF was late due to having too many last minute errands to run during the day!    Sooooo, so much for worrying!

By 6:10pm we were all dressed up and looking TERRIFIC I must say!  My hair looked gorgeous and this thanks to my future daughter-in-law, Fiorella, who had saved my day and me in the process, probably messing hers up!

Shortly later, Michel, Justin and I marched down the hotel’s front steps and right into an awaiting car.  We were now heading towards the oceanfront Miraflores Park Hotel, a five minutes ride from ours.  We had a wedding to attend…..….Justin’s and Fiorella’s wedding!!
