The M.S. Medea Cruise Ship

In the afternoon, the M.S. Medea sailed towards Kom Ombo on the calm waters of the Nile River. The weather was in the high twenties and we fully took advantage of it by lounging on the top deck and enjoying the landscape slowly go by.  We couldn't have asked for any better weather.  The sky was blue and the breeze quite refreshing.

As minutes turned into hours, the landscape seen along the Nile River was totally wonderful.  Believe me when I say these words to describe the landscape because as I find myself repeating them, that's exactly how it was.  Totally out of this world!

Just like yesterday, women were seen washing their dishes and clothes in the river while children played nearby.  Some would wave at us while yelling hellos whereas others would totally ignore us probably because of being used to the constant traffic of all the ships on the river. Clothes would be drying in the sun along the muddy colour brick houses while goats would be chewing on hay right next to them.

In other areas, men would be either working in the emerald green fields by cutting down the plantations while others would be burning some bushes or riding their camels close by.

On both sides of the Nile, high sand dunes appeared wonderfully against the richness of the lush green vegetation and palm trees.  A train would go by on dry land along the river at much faster speed than the ship.

Traffic on the Nile River was quite moderate.  Other cruise ships would pass next to us with their captains blowing the horn as a sign of "Hello there".  Beautiful feluccas would pass close by with their sails fully wide opened while the people on board would enjoy the ride and wave back at us.

Various species of birds were seen flying along the river or simply floating in the polluted river.  Fishermen would try their luck of the day by tossing in the river their fish nets.

Through this all, it was beauty to my eyes as I devoured every scene seen on either side of the river.  In the middle of this all, Michel would be sunbathing peacefully in his lounging chair at the front of the top deck while trying to get a suntan as we slowly sailed towards Kom Ombo, our next destination for the day!

Thankful for restful sailing along the Nile River!
